Unplugged

Warning: Proceed with Caution. This post is not for the close minded

At some point in our lives we all come across something that awakens our thought processes. We either approach it with an open mind or become defensive and bash it, shut down the idea completely, or run from it..

I was watching the matrix a few days ago and If you compare life on earth to the movie (sounds crazy, I know but stay open minded) once we are exposed to something we can either stay oblivious or we can continue learning more and be blown away by the things we start noticing..

“The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. When you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of people we’re trying to save. You have to understand that most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it.”

For those of you have had perfect lives, perhaps never been touched by death or anything that made you question the purpose of life, have you ever stopped to wonder if maybe you are part of some sort of “matrix” system? A similar question came to mind when I heard this quote from a movie:

Mark: “You prayed and believed your whole life. Never done anything wrong. And here you are. You’re the nicest person I know. I am the meanest. You have dementia. My life is perfect. Explain that to me!
Mina’s Mother: Sometimes the devil allows people to live a life free of trouble because he doesn’t want them turning to God. Their sin is like a jail cell, except it is all nice and comfy and there doesn’t seem to be any reason to leave. The door’s wide open. Till one day, time runs out, and the cell door slams shut, and suddenly it’s too late.”

Who’s the prince of this earth for the time being? Well if you believe in the bible, we learn that It’s satan.. 2 Corinthians 4:4-7
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus ‘sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

It would make sense for satan to let us stay blinded to the truth now wouldn’t it?

For those of you searching for something, or feeling a little down and lost lately:

Consider this:
The bible contains 66 books with 40 different authors written over 1500 years in 3 different languages on 3 different continents. Yet each author contributed to the same over all story line: the coming of Christ to save humans through his death and resurrection. The plan of salvation through following the gospel. The medical accuracy is insane, science is proving it’s reliability each day.”Voltaire, a noted french infidel who died in 1778, said that in one hundred years from his time Christianity would be swept from existence and passed into history. But what has happened? Voltaire passed into history; while the circulation of the Bible continues to increase in almost all parts of the world. It remains after 2,000 years the all time best seller.. Its fresh and up to date as todays newspaper. The themes of the bible affect every generation as far as morals, ethics, relationships and attitudes speak with relevance to every age and culture..There are three dispensations:

The patriarchal age: Where God spoke to the fathers through visions, dreams, and angels, with no written law.
The Mosaic Age: God expanded His method of dealing with mankind from family to nation. The name of this period comes from the lawgiver, Moses. Through him, with the Ten Commandments at its center, God set a definite written code for social, political, religious life.
The Gospel age: This age has Jesus Christ with all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). God turns from family and nation to the whole world. The grand purpose of God is fulfilled through His son-the redemption of mankind.
Time passes by but yet the truth of His words never change..
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Some of you probably think I am brainwashed or crazy..I respect that, I probably would have thought the same thing a year ago. Or maybe think I am just another bible thumper.. But why not? Does basing my beliefs off an inspired book, yes inspired (The phrase “given by inspiration of God,” is one word in Greek text. It is the word  theopneustos, which means “God-breathed) make me crazy? or does it maybe make you close minded?

No I am not judging or condemning nonbelievers. Who am I to judge? I love everyone, and I value and respect anyones opinion.I used to live my life that popular saying “follow your heart“.. But I stopped when I realized that following my heart was the main foundation for all my problems.. Which makes sense because

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

So why am I constantly told to follow my heart?

Then comes the argument of suffering.. “Why must I suffer if God is so full of love?”

Consider the book of Job in the bible, The key question in the book of Job asks: “Can a favored, righteous person hold on to their faith in God when things go wrong?” In a conversation with Satan, God argues that such a person can indeed persevere, and points out his servant Job as an example. God then allows Satan to visit terrible trials upon Job to test him.“Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning” (42:12). In the long run, there are blessings for obedience—entrance into the Kingdom of God is the greatest of all blessings—and curses for disobedience.

Gods conversation with Job brought him back to reality..check out (Job 38-41)
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,
    or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
“Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?
“Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,
that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.
“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this

Who am I to question God and his decisions?
God is the creator, I am just the creature. If he wants me to suffer for the time being, thats just fine with me..Plus
Suffering makes us turn to God.
Loss helps us to comfort others. Had I not lost my mom, I would not be able to relate or empathize with those who have also been touched by death. I would still be living recklessly because the thought of death seemed unreal to me.
Finally, suffering and tragedy remind us that this world is not our final resting point. If the world was always sunshine and rainbows, why would we ever want to leave?

Lots of people ask me what church I attend and what our beliefs are..But there is something you should know. In acts 20:28 it says that Jesus bought the church (the people) with his blood..The church is the people.. Attending Church is where we go to learn and apply and encourage each other with the truth (Gods word)..Hebrews 10:24-25 ” And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near”..

I attend the Alkire road church of Christ in grove city, the church of Christ (Romans 16:16). We are new testament christians. by being nailed to the cross Jesus abolished the old testament law.. “And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14). The old law has become “obsolete” (Hebrews 8:13; cf. 7:12; Ephesians 2:14-16). We still can learn numerous valuable lessons and principles about how to live godly lives from the old law (Romans 15:4), we are bound by it no longer…From studying the bible, with proper context, and history, and example, we follow the plan of salvation laid out (the gospel)

Saved by Grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8)

Believe (Mark 16:16)
Repent (Luke 13:3)
Confess (Romans 10:10)
Baptized in water (Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:16), By being baptized we are baptized into his death. Galatians 3:23-28  before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons ofFor as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

So from this we learn that when we are baptized, we are baptized into Christ, we put on Christ.
Romans 6:4-6

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”

When we are baptized we are baptized into his death and we are covered by his blood from then on when we make mistakes it enables us to repent and ask for forgiveness.

1 Peter 3:21
“Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

The baptism Jesus authorized and commanded is precisely what is indicated by the Greek word baptizoimmersion. The book of Acts contains multiple accounts of baptism, and in every instance, the individual being baptised was immersed. In every instance, that immersion was sufficient (see Acts 10:48; Acts 16:31-33; Acts 22:16).

Whats the point? We are carried by water into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. This act captures us out of the world and puts us into a relationship with God.

Finally, after being baptized, we are to live as God commanded (Titus 2:11-12, 2 Peter 1: 3-11)
Simple? No not really. Being a christian is probably one of the most difficult things Ive done.. But every day I study and surround myself with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, it becomes easier. Each day we learn something new to apply. Through our mistakes we can help encourage and teach others.

NO I am not condemning nonbelievers with this post..Who am I to judge? Im writing this for those who may not have the courage to. Someone once told me that they were ashamed of their faith because nonbelievers tend to be louder than believers.. Im not one to stay quiet or be bullied into silence..This is just some food for thought, please dont shoot the messenger.

The beauty of all this is that there is no need to argue the issue. It is a matter of free will. I am just presenting information I wish someone would have presented to me. At the end of the day we can choose to believe whatever we want because love allows freedom of choice.

It wouldn’t make sense for God who created intelligent beings to program them to slavishly serve Him without personal will-power now would it?
Because God is love (1 John 4:8,16)
God allows freedom of choice..

“This is it Neo, take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”

Perhaps the Red pill = bible ?

I think I’m going to take advantage of my freedom of choice and take the red pill and stay “unplugged”  for awhile.. and see how far the rabbit hole goes

John 14:15If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

“But sanctify the Lord God in your heart, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15)

John 8:32and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Ephesians 6:10-13 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
